What did you do this past week?

This week I finished and submitted Collatz, and started on some projects for my other classes. I’m hoping to get some work for other classes out of the way before the first group project so that I can be more flexible when it’s time to work with others.

What will you do next week?

I’m hoping to get some work for other classes out of the way before the first group project so that I can be more flexible when it’s time to work with others. I’ll continue to attend lecture and probably review todays lecture since I didn’t grasp it as well as the others.

What’s in your way?

Nothing in terms of this class — I actually feel pretty on top of things at the moment. I am starting to feel a little overwhelmed by the workload in my other classes (it seems like a lot online), but hopefully I can use the weekend to catch up and refresh to repeat it all next week.

I also keep messing up small things on the quizzes, but the two staged nature of them is super helpful in correcting those mistakes.

What was your experience of Collatz, the starter code, the makefile, its optimizations, and exceptions?

This project was the same as project 1 for OOP so it was a lot of review. I understand makefiles a lot more this time and was super comfortable with the workflow too. I remember thinking the workflow was a bit much last semester, but now that I know how to go about it I actually really like it. There was a lot of starter code for this project, which was good because it made the actual implementation super easy.

What made you happy this week?

We’ve finally reached false autumn here in Austin, and I’ve been enjoying the weather a lot! The heat of the summer was fun and all but I’m ready for fall now. I’m also really excited to watch some football this weekend.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

I started using a Chrome extension called Momentum! It provides you with a daily dashboard where you can write out your top priority and manage a to do list for the day. It really helps me be more productive, because now when I sit down to work I have a clear idea of what I need to do to reach my daily goals.
