CS373 Fall 2020 — Week 9
What did you do this past week?
This past week, I worked with my group to complete phase 2. We didn’t get everything quite done, and towards the end we started just slapping requirements up to try and save our grade — it’s gonna take some thorough planning to get everything right for phase 3.
What’s in your way?
Classes were just absolutely crazy last week and early on this week. October always seems hard for students! Now that I’m over that cluster of projects and exams, I think the next few weeks will go a lot more smoothly, and there’s not much in my way anymore.
What will you do next week?
Next week, I will focus completely on our website and meet with my group to try and delegate tasks and get organized enough to do better for phase 3. I think a lot of what we lack is communication due to our busy schedules, and organization. Once we fix those things, we’ll hopefully be in much better shape.
What was your experience of functions, lambdas, and decorators? (this question will vary, week to week)
The material presented in class this week was very cool, but also very hard to wrap my head around. I found the quiz on Friday particularly challenging, but after reviewing some of it it all makes much more sense. It has really helped build my appreciation for Python, since I didn't realize how much capability it really has.
What made you happy this week?
The dropping temperatures have been wonderful! It’s also nice to realize that the semester is almost over, since this one has been particularly busy and stressful.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
I don’t how how I survived before this summer without a monitor, but getting one is a game changer! Not only do you have a bigger screen to take away some of the eye strain, you also create more desk space and have more screens to organize the 300 applications and tabs you have open. It also feels very cool and tech-y to be able to drag things from my laptop to monitor screen which is always fun.
