Are you and your family safe and sound where you are?

Right now my family is in Dallas, and they are completley safe and doing well. I chose to stay here in Austin because I don’t want to risk infecting my grandmother who lives with my family at home. My roommates and I made a big trip to Costco before all of the shelter-in-place orders started, so we’re good to not leave the apartment for a few weeks except to walk the dog or get a few minutes of fresh air.

How do feel about your ability to finish the term completely online?

I have no doubts that I can successfuly complete this class online, though it will be a challenge to focus during online lectures. I’m a little more worried about my other classes, and I’m really sad about not getting to continue my routine of going to campus to study and focus, but the situation is what it is and I’ll just have to adjust. I’m glad that despite losing the social aspect of college for the semester, I’ll be able to finish my classes.

What made you happy this week?

I’ve had a lot of free time to do things that I really enjoy. I’ve been playing board games with my roommates, reading a lot more, and I even dusted off my old guitar and learned some new songs! I’m trying to avoid spending all day on Netflix, so I’m glad I found some alternative ways to keep myself productive and entertained.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

One board game that my roommates and I have been frequenting is called Ticket to Ride, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone. It’s pretty simple to pick up but theres a lot of different ways you can approach it strategy wise. Some might even go as far as saying that playing is basically practicing graph theory, so my algorithms people might benefit playing a bit before the exam next week. :)
